My biggest break up was with myself
My hardest break up was with myself
And not my true self
It was an exhausted and story written self
A fabrication
A conglomeration of me, lintballs, and hamster turds
A mixture that felt like mine
But it wasn’t
And it took years of fighting to see
Years of anguish to understand
That I am not that, or the shame, or the guilt, or whatever. I’m not wrong and I wasn’t to begin with.
I did have a lot to learn. Life teaches.
I shed that old skin, surrendered the good boy for something better
I trust I have now whatever it takes to live, be, and be merry.
One day at a time. My best is now
